My "Smarter" Home
My webpage is a hobby … but I will document how I’ve tried to make my home smarter and describe the technology I’ve employed to do it. I’ll also share some thoughts and experiences about products I’ve used along the way and perhaps why I’m still using them, or not.
I’ve built this website from the ground up, i.e. bought a Win11 mini PC, wiped it and installed Ubuntu with Docker and created the web server to base the site on.
Smart Home Products
Within this section I'll document the Smart Home products I've tried and which ones I've kept to use in my house. Including Smart Assistant's, Network equipment, and IoT devices on Wi-Fi, Zigbee and more.
Automations
What automations have I tried and tested throughout my home. Which ones have I kept and which ones are the most useful.
Virtualisation
What virtualisations I've tried and tested over the years and which ones are the most useful. What technologies have I applied to them to make them better and even more powerful.
Solar PV System
After doing a large amount of research across the topic of Solar PV systems, I bought one. I'll document the information I found and what drove my decisions to get the systems I have in place today.
Gaming
Although I'm not a massive gamer, I'll document the things I like to keep me busy. Google Stadia (now defunct), Xbox, mobile gaming, etc.
